Hello Class of 2027 Parents:

Welcome to Gallagher Middle School, Home of the Wolf Pack.

As you are aware, Mr. Burns and I met (virtually, of course) with each of the fifth grade classrooms this week to share information with your child about the middle school.  We discussed the team approach, the classes they would take, activities and sports, and the personnel available to support them.  While we know some of you are anxious about the readiness of your child to enter middle school, rest assured they are ready for the change.

Unfortunately, we were unable to host our Orientation Night for parents so we have put together a Google site for you to peruse at your leisure.  It includes video clips from a variety of staff members at the middle school.  We hope the information provided answers all of the questions you may have.

The Google Site link is GMS Orientation

With respect to the courses your child will take, there is one area in which sixth graders have a choice and that is the area of music.  Your child can elect to take a general music class (default class), a band class, or a chorus class.  An overview of those classes is provided in the Google form and we ask that you complete this google form indicating your child’s choice for his/her music class by June 10th.  If you do not complete the form, your child will be automatically placed in general music.

Please check your email for the google form for course selection.

Your child will be receiving a Summer Learning Packet for entrance into grade 6.  This will be included with the elementary school’s end of year packets.  We typically offer a summer orientation program for your child in August; however, we are unsure of our ability to offer the program at this time.  We will keep you updated on this.

We hope your child has a great finish to his/her elementary school career and we look forward to meeting you in person in the near distant future.

Have a great weekend.

Dr. Laurie Beauvais, Principal

Mr. John Burns, Assistant Principal
