Teacher Professional Development Day
Teacher Professional Development Day
John Burns
Thursday, December 06, 2018

While students had the day off, the GMS faculty was hard at work on various endeavors to further develop programs and improve instructional practice to the next level.

John Collins, renowned writing expert, engaged our teachers in learning about the five types of writing in order to improve our student's writing across the curriculum.   This was a continuation of work begun in August and will be ongoing through the year.

Throughout the day, teams of teachers dove deep into the results of the latest state testing and how we can use that information to improve our core instruction.  Teachers were able to find patterns and common skills where our students were successful and where our students struggled.

Elsewhere, explorer content areas such as physical education/health, music, art, foreign language and computer science worked on updating curriculum documents.  This work will also be ongoing, resulting in published documents that will remain updated as the curriculum is updated and evolves on a yearly basis.

Our teachers are always learning, always working to improve and develop the programs and instruction at GMS to provide the best education for all of our students.  #ourpromise
