Welcome Back Wolfpack!

We are thrilled to have our students returning to school tomorrow (Thursday, September 9th) to kick off the 21/22 school year.  Please note the several informational items below.

Morning Drop Off

  • Students may be dropped off as early as 7:10am; however, students must be present in their homeroom class by 7:40am or they are considered tardy.  Students who are tardy must report to the office to sign in.
  • On the first day - students will be going directly to their homeroom, which is available on their schedule via the portal.  If a student does not know their homeroom, we will have ample staff stationed with lists to help them find their way.
  • Families are reminded to follow the posted morning traffic pattern ("the loop") when arriving on campus from Pleasant View Avenue.  From 7:15am-7:45am, there is no left turn allowed onto the campus; instead, vehicles must turn right onto Nokomis Trail, left onto Tomahawk Trail, and left onto Arrowhead Trail, which will lead into the campus driveway after the stop sign.
  • CHANGE FROM LAST YEAR: Cars will drop off at the curb in front of the school, while buses are pulling around the back of the building. Please help move traffic by pulling up as far along the curb as possible before stopping.

Afternoon Pick Up

  • In the afternoon, vehicles are not allowed to wait for dismissal on the school campus prior to 1:40pm.  When arriving, please form two lanes in the first staff parking lot until directed to pull up to the curb.  Per the property owner and Smithfield Police, there is no school parking/pick-up allowed in the Smithfield Plaza parking lot.

  • Bus routes are posted here.  We ask that students know their bus number, as this will make the afternoon boarding procedure easier and faster.
  • Please remind your child that masks are required on buses at all times.

Handbook/Online Information Update

  • Our handbook is posted here.  Please read and review the information with your child.  We will be sending out information on updating your census information shortly.  In that process, we will ask for acknowledgement that you read the handbook, as well as several other annual updates (FERPA, acceptable use, etc.).
  • Please note that there is an updated student dress code.

COVID Information

  • Masks are required for all while indoors at school as one layer of our mitigation strategy (ventilation/filtration, testing, distancing greater than 3 feet).
  • If students are experiencing any symptoms (cough/shortness or breath, fever/chills, muscle/body aches, vomiting/diarrhea, loss of taste/smell), please do not send them to school, they will be sent home.
  • If you have any questions about quarantines, symptoms, etc., please contact Mrs. Donna Moan, our school nurse.

  • Students kept their chromebooks over the summer, please have your child charge their device tonight and bring it to school tomorrow.  If your child’s device is in need of repair, we will collect those from students at some point tomorrow.
  • If your child is new to the district or their chromebook is in need of repair, it may take us through next week to get this settled.  Please be patient as we go through this process.

  • The USDA has extended free lunch and breakfast to all students for the 21/22 school year.  Students may simply take a free breakfast or lunch and do not need to provide any information to the cafeteria staff.
  • The cafeteria will have stable seating at lunch time.  Students may choose their seat, but are committing to that seat for a minimum of two weeks (their location will be logged, in the event that contact tracing is necessary).

Open House

  • Please save the date for an in-person open house for families on Tuesday, September 21st.  In order to reduce the number of people in the building, please come during the slot that aligns with your child’s last name.

6:00-6:35  Last Names A-D
6:40-7:15  Last Names E-Mc
7:20-7:55  Last Names Me-Z

Cross Country

  • Season begins on Friday ,September 10th with a team meeting(in GMS cafeteria) followed by practice at Deerfield Park from 2:15pm-4:00pm, with pickup at Deerfield.  Students must be fully registered for athletics, with all applicable paperwork submitted.
  • Going forward, practice will be Monday through Friday from 2:30pm-4:00pm at Deerfield Park.
  • Students must bring running attire, sneakers, and a water bottle.

Odds and Ends

  • Lockers will be assigned to students for use; however backpacks will continue to be allowed to reduce the need for locker time.
  • We encourage students to bring a water bottle to school.  The bubblers remain inoperable; however, we have water bottle filling stations available for student use.
