Membership in the NJHS is one of the highest honors awarded to a middle school student. Our chapter strives to give practical meaning to the Society's standards of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. These five pillars are the basis of selection.

Membership is more than an honor. It is an ongoing responsibility and an obligation to continue to demonstrate these outstanding qualities that result in a student's selection.

Students will be automatically nominated to join NJHS during one of the following periods: 

AS A SEVENTH GRADER:  At the end of the first semester of their seventh grade year following three consecutive semesters (6 quarters) meeting the eligibility criteria set forth in the bylaws. 

AS AN EIGHTH GRADER: At the end of the first quarter of the eighth grade year (after 9 quarters) meeting the eligibility criteria set forth in the bylaws. Students who declined the invitation in grade seven, will not be re-invited. 

Once nominated, eligible students seeking membership in NJHS must complete an application packet as detailed in the bylaws. The Faculty Council will evaluate the (completed) application packet(s) of eligible members to determine a select group of students to be invited into the Vincent J. Gallagher Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society.  Upon invitation, students must complete community service as outlined in the bylaws.  Induction of invited members will take place in May/June of each year.

Items are due by these dates; however, students are encouraged to submit them earlier.  All items are submitted directly to Mr. St. Sauveur, Mrs. Malloy, or Mrs. Guarino.
