Gr. 6 earned a rating of SUPERIOR (this is only the fourth time in Smithfield's history for such a rating at the secondary level).

Tuesday, Feb. 13, will be a Virtual Learning Day for Smithfield. Please follow school or teacher direction for virtual learning. The schools and district office buildings will be closed due to the intensity of the storm forecast. There will be no after school activities tomorrow.

Our NJHS students are hosting our Annual Food Drive. Please consider donating Food Drive items to benefit the Smithfield Food Pantry. The food drive runs through November 15th. Thank you.

Mrs. Kayla Bernardin's Halloween Surprise - Selected as SSELAC's October Positivity Showcase teacher. The recognition entourage included eighth graders who help support our ISE students. Congratulations to Mrs. Bernardin on such a well-deserved honor!

The SHS Music Department has its first concert of the year on Thursday, Oct. 26th, at 7 pm. The band, chorus, Sentinel Singers, Garageband, and soloists will perform. All are invited! It will be a FREE, fun, Halloween-themed concert lasting no more than one hour.

Due to the expected extreme heat conditions Thursday, Sept 7, the Smithfield Public Schools will have a 2-hour early dismissal for grades K-12. PM preschool and the YMCA After School Programs are cancelled. Your principals will be sending you a message regarding the dismissal time for your schools. Administrators will be in our schools until the end of the day to ensure that all students are able to arrive home safely. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Thank you. Students will be dismissed two hours early on Thursday, September 7th. For GMS, this means an 11:55am dismissal time. Lunch will be served prior to dismissal.

All GMS sports have been cancelled for today and tomorrow (Sept. 6th and 7th). Scheduled sports events for Friday, Sept. 8th will take place as planned. Also, our Open House scheduled for tomorrow evening has been rescheduled to Tuesday, September 19th from 6-8pm.
